CSCA Exam 2026–2027: Complete Guide to Exam Dates, Subjects, Paper Pattern and Registration for Pakistani Students

Planning to study MBBS, Engineering, Business or another undergraduate degree in China? The China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is an important examination that international students should understand before applying to Chinese universities.

What Will You Learn in This Guide?

This complete guide explains what CSCA is, who needs to take it, the upcoming examination dates, registration deadlines, subjects, paper pattern, examination fees, test formats, results and preparation tips for Pakistani students.

1. What Is the CSCA Examination?

CSCA stands for China Scholastic Competency Assessment. It is a standardized academic examination developed for international students who want to pursue undergraduate education in China.

The examination is designed to evaluate students' academic preparation and, where applicable, their Chinese-language proficiency before entering a Chinese university.

The CSCA is used by participating Chinese universities as part of their undergraduate admission assessment. Its results can also be considered during scholarship evaluations.

From the 2026–2027 academic year, international applicants applying for undergraduate programs at universities participating in the Chinese Government Scholarship are required to take the CSCA and submit their scores as part of their application.

Important distinction: CSCA is an academic assessment for undergraduate admission. It is not an IELTS examination, a Chinese-language certificate, or a student visa examination.

2. Who Needs to Take the CSCA Exam?

The CSCA is open to international students planning to study undergraduate programs in China.

It is particularly important for:

Students applying for undergraduate programs at Chinese Government Scholarship participating universities.
Students applying for MBBS and other medical undergraduate programs.
Students interested in Engineering, Science and Technology.
Students applying for Business, Humanities and other bachelor's programs.
Students whose selected universities specifically require a CSCA score.

Does Every Chinese University Require CSCA?

Not necessarily. Requirements depend on the university, scholarship route and selected program. Students should confirm the requirement with their target university before registering for the examination.
