What Life is Really Like for Pakistani Students in China

2026-05-20 · Indus Education Team

Moving to China for university is an exciting adventure, but it helps to know what to expect. Here is an honest breakdown from our students who have made the move.

Food

Halal food is available in most Chinese universities, especially those with large international student populations. Pakistani student communities often cook together, and you can find South Asian grocery stores in major cities.

Language

Most MBBS and English-medium programs are taught in English. However, learning basic Mandarin will make your daily life significantly easier — our 1-Year Chinese Language Program is a great way to prepare before your degree.

Cost of Living

China is surprisingly affordable. Monthly expenses (excluding tuition) typically range from PKR 30,000–60,000 depending on the city and your lifestyle.

Pakistani Community

There are active Pakistani student associations at almost every major Chinese university. Indus Education PK also provides 1-month post-landing follow-up and ongoing support during your stay.

Safety

China is one of the safest countries for international students. Crime rates are very low and universities have excellent security infrastructure.
